Nick strop doesn't really matter to me. I nicked my TM strop when I first got it two years ago and I still use it. I just sanded the heavier nicks down to they were smooth and did the glass bottle lather treatment to make the leather go back to normal.

    Still works.

Worrying about nicks is more about attachment then anything else, unless they're deep and catch the razor.

I've been telling newbies that everyone eventually ruins their first strop. Now, this thread! Hopefully, the moderators will delete this objectionable message.

I only cut expensive strops. Every time i have purchased new leather for my srd strop i end up putting a few nice cuts in it right away.

My vintage DD Shell strop... $30 and zero cuts.

I just try not to strop at blazing speeds these days.

I was a strop nicker - but not until I saw Lynn's stropping technique and tried to emulate it without knowing what he was doing - then hamburger!

I had never nicked a strop until last week I stropped a Japanese Kamisori for the third time. Luckily it wasn't to bad, nothing a little sandpaper didn't fix.

If you like you can send your strop out to be professionally nicked... Just send it to one of our professional nickmasters.

I think you either keep the motion fluid or you don't. Haven't nicked my strop yet, since 2003.

Sorry larry to throw a monkey wrench in you advice, if you get me a few nebie strops i will knick them for you so you can say that everybody knicks one,

I think the reason i am so careful is because i dont want to deal with the embarresment of being the kid on here that knicked his strop. i think im still the younges person on here unless new took my place.
