Default Feeling when Stroping is enough...

Do anyone find that when you have stroped enough you can actually feel less drag, or is this just my imagination. I ususally keep stroping a little even after, but when I do this I can sense that I've got off all the 'rough edges' and am ready to go?

If by "feeling less drag," you mean less draw on the strop as opposed to less drag on your beard? I can say that IME I feel no less draw when the edge is stropped smooth. If anything, there seems to be a little more draw on the razor after a few laps.

    Default More draw...

I agree with Flyman...it seems to me that when the razor
is "ready", it feels like there's a bit more draw, not less.

However...I readily concede that this may be only a
personal experience, related to my razors, my strop,
my technique. Or it might even be a function of the
razor/strop heating up, due to friction. I dunno....

Others may have an entirely different experience, so
    don't take this as gospel.

It varies from razor to razor and strop to strop. I wouldn't use feel when stropping as an indicator. I'd just do a standard number of passes.

Not my experience either, but it probably depends on the equipment, the honing, etc. For me further stropping just leads to more of the same sensation.

I've had a similar experience. Some razors will start to drag more and some will drag less. My different strops act differently, too.

When I strop I predominately feel the spine and not the edge because there is almost no pressure on the edge. The only way that I would feel the edge is if it is rolled or I has a wire edge.

I know the sensation you're talking about.

When my razor comes off of my barber hone, it has very little draw. After a shave or two, the amount of draw has increased significantly.

This leads me to believe that i am stropping incorrectly (too much pressure), or not enough laps.

I usually do about 35-40 laps on my filly. I am going to increase this number to something like 100 and reduce the pressure dramatically.

I will let you know what i find out.
