He's also willing to customize stuff to your preferences. He offered me a very long cordovan that he had available, and while I was wary that it was too long, it is now my most "fun" strop to use because I never run out of "real estate". Thanks, Neil for offering so much flexibility ...

    Hello,
I am planned too to get a new Miller strop. My old strop is a tiny Dovo, I have practised with that (there is nicks) and I think my stroping technique is now so good that I dare to buy a real strop.

It must be long enough and maybe 2.5" wide. But I can not decide, a Latigo or a bridle. I have understood that those have a quite different drag. But they work just as well, offcourse.

    What you think about those?

    Thanks,
    Mikko.

    Mikko,

    Many apologies !

I prefer the draw and feel of Mr Millers tallow tan and black Mexican latigo leathers for my strops, both hanging and paddle. I have a favourite short double hanging strop made from these leathers, and it is just right - I do forty laps on the latigo, and twenty-five on the tallow tan.

I have a bridle paddle, which is excellent, but still prefer stropping on tallow tan or latigo.

So my vote would be for the latigo

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

Thanks to all who suggested Neil Miller. I plumped for the modular paddle strop in aluminium. I went for the latigo and felt panels. Actually bought by my other half as a Christmas gift so I'll use it for my Christmas day shave.
