Thanked: 1195It may sound really gross, but it does help if you run your hand through your hair a few times before palm-rubbing your strop. The oils will transfer to your hands and then to the strop.
That's assuming, of course, that you have hair to run your hands through

Thanked: 1160Low tech is best when it comes to straights IMHO.Use your palm and that's all the oil you need.

Thanked: 983I rub the stropping side. The oils in your hand are minimal and won't be detrimental to the stropping action. Over a period of time you end up gently conditioning the strop using this method.
