    Default Strap Strop?

I just got this guitar strap and am tempted to try it out for stropping. 2 1/2 inches wide and long.

I can't fault you for trying. I can produce a wicked edge improvement just off a bath towel now.

Everything is just practice and know how with straights.

I'm curious. How do you use a bath towel to produce an edge on your straight ?

I lay my hand out flat, with my four fingers straight out. Then I lay a bath towel over the hand. Flatten the whole affair out as much as possible and create any tension that you can by wrapping the towel over the fingers. The weight of the towel pulls downward and creates a little tension.

Then I strop the blade on my hand in the direction of my fingers and back in the direction of my palm.

I do maybe 20-40 passes. Works like a charm for me.

When I travel with a straight I strop on my wallet, so I'm used to stropping on a small square like object, so a little practice helps.

Keep the stropping action focused on the area covered by the fingers. You'll screw it up if you try to strop over the palm of the hand.

    Thanks AFDavis11.
That's very ingenious and original. When you lay the towel over your hand, is it single layer or do you have it folded so that its doubled or even more ?
What I envision is a folded towel (1x, 2 thick) laying in line with your arm so that the towel hangs off of the end of your fingers ?
