Default Vintage Aberdeen Strop age & value?

    Hi Everyone,

I found this forum while doing research on this vintage strop purchased at a local auction. It's made by Aberdeen for Caswell Massey Co of New York. Can anyone tell me how old this is and approx value. Please see below for pictures I took. If hot link is not allowed, I will attach pictures individually. Thanks!

Looks like a nice old strop. It doesn't look dry or cracked on the edges. I have bought a few old strops lately as well and found they come in handy for developing the "learning curve" when it comes to stropping. My first strop has since been laid to rest. It lived a "James Dean" kind of life when I had it....fast and no longer with us.

As far as the value goes, if you got it cheap enough and it helps you develop your stropping skills than I say it's "priceless". Also, I apply a small amount of neatsfoot oil with the palm of my hand to any old strops I get, helps keep the leather supple and soft. Just don't over do it. Happy stropping sir..........

While i dont think its stated in the site rules we do not offer valuation
It looks to be in pretty good shape, and IIRC scotch shell is high grade

Forum rules do prohibit posting links to business websites.
We don't do appraisals here partially because so many people come on here simply for the purpose of taking advantage of our knowledge here so that they can sell their stuff.

I'm not trying to chase you off! If you think you might be coming across any other barber related stuff, I highly recommend that you do a bit of reading around this thread. You may find it interesting.
