Do you guys know anything about this strop?
Is this a quality product? Would I be able to make it a pasted strop?

Glad you asked! I have been recommending the Jemico strop to guys for a while as a first strop. The leather is very nice, unlike other ebay strops. what I would wonder is has anyone seen the parallel to Dovo strops? I started with a Dovo Prima rindleder and recently bought a Jemico prima for a friend and I would swear they are the same thing??? Yes, I even used it for a bit and it was very good. I would say it would be just the ticket to paste!

I rest my case.

I always thought they were exactly the same product just different name. The jemco was the first strop I had. it's a quality piece alright.

They , like so many other products that appear identical but have different brand names , are most likely made in the same factory , with the same components , by the same people .
BTW , my first strop was a Jemico , too .Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

Of the several such similar strops I've seen made in Germany, all seemed to have the same leather and hardware and were basically identical. Here's a thread about one that says "Weltmeister" on it and comes with green paste on one side. The OP in that thread says Dovo distributes that one with a couple of different brandings.
The leather is nice, but the thing is, the factory(?) paste on the pasted side of these is waaay too thick, in my opinion. I had to wipe/sand most of mine off, and it's still probably too thick. They do make great travel strops, and I'd say the Jemico linked here is a good value for the money. I wouldn't pay the $60+ some versions of these run from some vendors, though.Last edited by northpaw; 03-26-2011 at 11:26 AM. Reason: love to edit
