TI double sided paddle
Hello,
My parents very kindly bought me a TI double sided paddle for my birthday last week and I just wondered if anyone else has used one. It is 3" wide and has two leather (suede) panels one being very slightly smoother than the other. Over the past week I have been using the "heavier" side in place of linen and finishing on the smoother side. Am I doing this right? Any suggestions welcome.

Do you have an alternative strop ? A hanger or whatever ? If so pasting is cool. If not I wouldn't paste my only strop. Paste is great when needed but a steady diet can be too much of a good thing IMHO.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks,
I pasted the reverse of my old/cheap strop on receipt of this new one and could still use the unpasted side as a regular strop.

It may be very effective for regular stropping with the rough leather, like an Illinois Russian leather strop. I don't know the answer, but I wouldn't paste it until you are quite sure you prefer your hanging strop for regular stropping.

Edgeof40,
I have had one for a couple of years, and use it for travelling.
I did not have much success with using the TI Pate De Rasoir with this strop - it clogged up the suedey finish
I cleaned it off and 'pasted' one side with CrOx powder, and it worked well like that.
Have fun !
Best regards

Thanked: 20
I have had a TI strop now for about 2 months and love it. I have had no trouble with the rougher suede clogging with paste. I liberally rubbed the TI paste on the rough suede side and then worked it in with the palm of my hand and it was all absorbed into the suede with no residue or problem at all. There were a few small dots of the paste which I worked with my fingernail until they spread out and then worked again with the palm of my hand for several minutes.
It's all good, no residual blobs and the the rough side of the strop looks like there is nothing on it.
Hope this helped.

shikano53,
Many thanks for the tip and I am glad it worked for you
I know others have used hair-dryers etc to help to spread the paste out.
I have the best success with the TI Pate De Rasoir, when I applied it to linen and cotton hanging strops - it works very nicely, and I liked the edge it produced
Have fun !
Best regards

Thanked: 286i found the ti paste made my ti paddle become uneven for some reason. the ti pate never seemed to work on a paddle for me, as said cotton or linen works a treat.
