Inexpensive but good
I'm looking around for a 3" wide strop, preferably about 24" long. All I seem to find in those specs are $75-$95. Looking for something in the $35-$45 range. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you!Last edited by roxojax; 04-27-2011 at 04:01 PM.

Thanked: 20Tandy Leather Factory. They have 3"x50" cowhide strips that you can cut and attach to some D-rings with Chicago screws all that you can get there. It should be less than $50. I know in Toronto it was around $45 so if you are in the US it will be cheaper. Good luck.

Thanks wmac, is there any conditioning that needs to be done to the leather before using it as a strop?

Thanked: 20I rubbed it with my hand and did the bottle and lather trick that is mentioned in the Wiki. It worked great and I use the strop everytime I shave. Also if you want a linen strop I took an old pair of jeans cut them into a three pieces one just larger than the other two and glued them together with contact cement, here is how you do it Making a linen strop out of denim - Straight Razor Place Wiki. Good luck.

Try starshaving.com. They carry a 3 inch strop for about 35-40 dollars. I purchaed a 2 inch strop from the website and its worked great and the customer service is superb. The strops have gotten some pretty good reviews on the forum as well. Hope this helps!

+1 to starshaving I have the 2 in and the 21/2 in and love them both plus with the 21/2 and 3 in you get the press wool strop as the linen component which is an excellent strop also
