    Why not take a potter's wheel, cover it with the leather of your choice and use that? No seams etc.

    actually, that seems like an ok idea, though you would get more stropping on the part of the blade farthest from the center and less the closer to the edge that you get
    i have seen something like it for resharpening (i think) DE blades

    Actually I think the belt idea is not a bad one. Not a practical thing to own, unless you were stropping many razors a day one after another, but not a bad idea all the same. Personally I prefer the time proven method with a hanging strop, but I can see merit in this mechanised version. It would have to be tested out for sure if someone got serious about it and decidied to build one. There are always teething problems.

    Not necessarily. You needn't put the blade at a straight angle to the ege of the wheel.
