    Default Cerium Oxide

I have seen Cerium Oxide for sale and was wondering if anybody had used it on a strop and what sort of edge did it create as opposed to CRo . I also would like to ask if anybody has experimented with any other powders , Ie I wonder if smokers toothpaste powder would be any good .

I use it almost exclusively...In fact I sold it for quite awhile...

You need to be careful as with most everything else there are quality differences, you want the super white 99.99% pure .30 micron powder, that is the softest and best I found... will get you the website after work tonight

There are quite a few different ones out there... Most I would guess work fine, but I went for the most pure I could find

Thanks for your reply gssixgun. I have just seen a program on tv and they mentioned they used it to polish mirrors .

The Cerium Oxide is pretty good. I have used a bar of Yellowstone for quite a while, but I really prefer .5 diamond spray on felt or Chromium Oxide for every day honing. The Cerium when used can provide that little extra on some razors that can push the shave from them over to the WOWZA side.

    Have fun,

    Lynn

I purchased a small amount from glen back when he was selling it and can say it given me excellent results. Actually I spent a part of yesterday pasting various materials with it for my homemade paddle strop. I'm hoping to see if it has any different effects when used on leather, canvas, or felt.
