Thread: 8" Double Sided Paddle Strop

i'm looking for a strop to put paste on just to touch up my razors without having to buy hones... yet. i'm thinking of a 1.0 micron and .5 micron. i was looking around for double sided leather strops and i found this one for a great price (i think). one side is leather and the other is suede. here's the link:

has anyone had an experience with the strop? and can i apply pastes to both the leather and suede material?

I haven't tried it, but it seems really nice, especially for that price! It's a steal.

I can tell you that stropping on suede, or nubuck works wonders for the edge of a razor, in my opinion! I made myself a nubuck strop recently, and it is my all-time favorite.

I also made myself a magnetic table-top strop and one of the pads I use on that is suede/nubuck leather impregnated with Chromium oxide. It's probably the best surface I've ever used for a paste...

You can't really go wrong with this strop, for that price!

Any other opinions on this? I'm thinking of getting this strop too as a finisher after I use a barber hone. I'm thinking of asking them to do two suede sides and then either pasting both with different compounds or maybe leaving one side suede? Advice please!
