    Default Strop Heigth

What is the best height to mount a strop? I have a hook in my bathroom about 6 feet high. Is there anything wrong with stropping at an upward angle? Or is there any thing wrong with stropping at a downward angle (strop mounted below my countertop)?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Between those two options, I would suggest the downward angle of the countertop. I have stropped from a high hook and I know that it can be down, but your goal in stropping should be to have the back and forth strokes be identical. I consider that to be more difficult to achieve with a high strop.

Another option instead of your two existing hooks is to tie a ring or hasp to your doorknob with a bit of heavy string, like a shoe-string, and then hang your strop permanently or temporarily from that ring or hasp. Doorknob height is about perfect.
