improvised Strop
Well, my Filly strop has gone missing, and last week i had prom, and i had a 8 day hair growth. My blade was not dramatically dull, i just wanted to get a clean, rash free shave. So i searched around my house, and i grabbed two articles of clothing my old winter leather jacket, and my work jeans. These seemed perfect, because they are soft, but rough at the same time, so it would not damaged the blade and still do the work of a strop. I did a few passes on my jeans, then when to the leather, showered, lathered and shaved. Its not as good as a real strop, but it did the work.

I must thank you for admitting that you have lost a strop. I thought that I was the only one.
I have made one of the jean strops from old pants and I must say that I actually like it.
I don't know what your leather was like, but I have found that while traveling I use the jeans I am wearing and my forearm. While I am sure that I will eventually find myself suturing my arm, but that is why God gave me two. Right?

lol no problem, i have already giving up hope and i am already investing in a new strop, my leather jacket is very thick, its made for winter time, and i used a dvd case and wrapped it with the jeans, and just stropped it like that, but i am considering your forearm technique

Ive use the palm of my hand to great effect, seems the hone masters of Japanese Kamisori razors use the palm of their hands in finishing thier razors, to remove the burr that is inevitable after the final strokes on the very expensive hone that are required for that type of honing.
tinkersd of SRP
