    Default Felt vs Linen

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered.

My Big Daddy came with a felt strop.

At first I didn't use it, but now I use it all the time.

Before each shave my razors get about 40 on the felt, then 60 on the leather. After the shave I give the steel 20 on the felt and 40 on the leather.

    Why not, right?

The felt started out bright white, but is now turning a little grey - indicating it's actually doing some good... since I'm rubbing a hunk of steel on it almost every day. I have added no pastes.

    The question:

Is the felt any more abrasive than a linen? Should I treat my felt strop any different than I would a linen?

Not to sound dumb but what does the the Manufacturer say about it????

" Use the Felt strop to clean metal particles from the straight razor edge and to re-align the edge to shave readiness. "

" A Wool Felt Strop will help keep your straight razor shave ready by cleaning the debris and the metal particles off of the razors edge and by re-aligning the razors edge and keeping your straight razor super sharp and shave ready between honing (sharpening) and will help delay honing (sharpening) saving metal, money, time and expense. "

"For best results have one Balsa straight razor strop loaded with chromium oxide semi paste and one Wool Felt straight razor strop loaded with diamond slurry spray along with your leather straight razor strop to keep your straight razor super sharp and shave ready. When your straight razor starts grabbing or nicking your face then re-set your straight razors edge with 20-40 laps (back and forth) with the same stropping method as your leather strop (tang, shank first) on the Wool Felt Straight Razor Strop then always use your Leather Strop before Shaving. The chromium oxide paste or diamond slurry spray loaded on the Wool Felt Straight Razor Strop will keep your razors edge super sharp and Shave Ready! "

I pretty much think those statements say it all... There is not much info on what this guy uses for material

The other thing is that not many people use "Felt" as an everyday plain stropping surface, I used my SRD felt strop for that purpose for the first 6 months I owned it just as a test to see if it worked... It works but it works even better as a surface for diamond spray so that is what I use it for...

Would I switch from my Linen/Cotton or Webbing to Felt???? No JMHO after trying all of them

Edit: I mean for everyday non-pasted stropping in that last statement just in case it wasn't clear, I just re-read that and added this hehehe

    Hummm...

I got the felt strop attached to the leather strop as a xmas present so I didn't get all those text messages. In fact. I got nothing.

I did get Lynns DVD, Glenn and have watched many of your videos - very helpful.

Let me go over your post and see if there's anything I missed.

    Thanks
