Rebuilt better stronger thicker than ever before.
I received my first strop in the mail and I only had it less than a week and I managed to cut a slice into it. Please let me off, I am only a beginner and had only stropped a total of my first 3 shaves but I should have been more cautious I know.
Anyway after a 5 minute drive down the road from my work to a leather company I managed to pick of an offcut of thick Russian leather for $5.00 and a quality died through thick piece of cowhide to rebuild the ends.
The original width of the strop was 2 inches but I made it new and improved 2.25 inches so less of an angle when stropping out the X pattern.

Nice work.
To put it mildly, I was a boob when it came to stropping - hacked up 5 of them. I did likewise, with purchased leather, and have been very happy with the results. 'Tried horsehide and love it. I managed 2 nicks in the last 6 mo - both w/ razors w/ very small shanks that twisted in my hand while stropping. I have to be very careful w/ small razors.
'Hope you don't have to buy more leather & that the shaves just get better.

Thanks for your comments.
I am getting better at stropping (I think) and relatively fast learning. I am pleased I purchased a strop that can be worked on by just unscrewing and not fixed riveted through.
I only have to practice on my shaving; I shave at night before retiring for the night so all the razor burn has (hopefully) faded by morning so I do not look like a complete nitwit that can’t shave himself when I turn up for work, don’t try this at home Mach 3 people
