Is this an old travel strop?
Hi All,
I was looking in an antique shop the other day and the bloke in the shop showed me this.
He admitted that he didn't know what it was but assumed that it was something to do with razors 'cause he picked it up with a bunch of str8s.
I've taken as many photos as I could to show the detail.
The inside is very fine leather.
Can anyone shed any light on it?
Cheers,
GeoffHang on and enjoy the ride...

Thanked: 46I would say this is an SE razor strop..kinda like the Rolls Razor or this could even be used for a Wedge single edge razor..perhaps..razor would be in the middle and pull with the handle up n down to strop.

Thanked: 3164It looks a bit like this - it is an advert from the back of a Wilkinson straight razor:
I have seen similar contraptions for single blades so I suppose the width of the strop would be the determining factor.

Not a travel strop. Does look to be one of those blade type strops. Looks like the leather is from a piggy.

Thanked: 3164Here's another pic of an old stropper - you can make out the handle of the razor at the bottom:
