Thanked: 19Spread CrOx paste if already applied?
Hello all,
I bought a Filly Strop from RupRazor.
Everything is fine with it.
However, a large amount of CrOx is applied on the rough (back) side.
Should I use it as it is (see pics) or if I should try to "spread out" or "even out" the CrOx on the whole stropping surface or in a thinner layer? If yes, then how?
Thanks,
Christophe.

I think it is generally recommended not to have the CrOx so concentrated in one area. You can try a moist towel and see if it can be moved around to other parts of the strop and spread out. If not, you could sparsely apply your CrOx to the bare parts of the strop and try that.

+1 on that, I would dip my fingers in some warm water and spread it out as evenly as I could and let it dry for a day or 2 before useing, Just my 2 cents.

Try leather conditioning oil on a cloth or your finger and try to spread it around. Apply CrOx (smoothly this time ) to the resto of the stropping surface.
Wipe off the excess and you should be fine. Your strop seems not to be beyond "repair"

That is strange. It would have been better if he had a small amount scattered over the whole strop. It might be hard to move that stuff around now. You may have to apply more on the bare areas. You'll find out soon enough when you try.

Just out of curiosity: You did the application of the CroOx, right? The strop was not in this condition when it arrived you
