Thread: Nicked my strop. Diamond Spray or Crox paste on Leather?

Well, I got careless and nicked my strop while stropping my razor while simultaneously trying to check out my shave in the mirror. It's still usable, but I'm just going to buy a new one. What do you guys recommend for leather...paste or diamond spray?

I know personally preference is usually the standard response, but what do you recommend? I'm assuming diamond spray is easier to apply...because it's a spray.

Just looking for opinions. I haven't really used pastes or sprays to this point.

You are thinking of using spray or paste on your nicked strop?

If just buying one type, get CrOx. Make the leather rougher with some sandpaper, and I'm sure the SRD CrOx spray will work great. They seem to be out of the CrOx crayon.

The strop is nicked at the top of oneside. It's still usuable, but I'd rather just get a new one (same kind) since I'm comfortable on the strop. I wasn't looking forward to breaking a new one in though.

You won´t get a definite answer on the battle Cr2O3 vs. Diamond. Why should you? They both work!
Just pick one that sounds most appealing to you.
I use both (0.3µm Cr2O3 and several grits of Diamond: 1µm, 0.5 and 0.25) and like both.
Since you can get both the Diamond and the Chromium oxide as a spray nowadays,
you can apply both of them equally as easy. Btw. oil based Cr2O3 is no big deal to apply either
