    Default Rubber strop?

    In efforts to see if I like straight shaving I've kept my budget pretty minimal. Got an old "Joseph Elliot's - Silver Ring" blade for 10$. But alas after a few attempts at shaving it was apparent it needed a touch up. I tried denim jeans and old belt with no real result. Next I tried another slight abrasive material... a stretched inner tube from a bicycle. So far it seems to work, sometimes will cut a hanging hair.

    The good news I've found way less irritation with straight shaving so soon spend real money.

    Anyone else experiment with cheep junk before they dove in?

    Used to finish hone on a glass bottle...My Grampa did it that way....I stopped and haven't noticed any difference.
