    Default Dovo Yellow paste

Do any of you use Dovo Yellow paste in place Neatsfoot oil for your non-DOVO strops? Do you apply it to new strops, or wait 6 months or so, applying it no more than twice a year?

Dovo yellow can be used in place of Neatsfoot oil on any strop. The idea behind both is the same. If your strop is brand new you most likely won't need to oil it anytime soon. If you just rub your hand on it a couple times a day you probably will never have to oil it. So my suggestion to you if you are new to stropping is to just use your strop as is for now and re-vist oiling in a year if you then think you need to.

Now with that said oil can be used by an experienced stropper to change the feeling of the strop, ie. make it smoother or give it more drag, but that is something to get into after you get the basics of shaving down.

I'm aware that they're interchangeable, I was trying to figure out how many people are using Dovo Yellow vs Neatsfoot. I know that some people oil their strops to increase draw, which is not what I'm trying to achieve.
