I used the 76 and not the 77. The 76 is specifically designed for use with fabrics. It is the same stuff used to glue the felt on pool table slates. If you could get your hands on some type of thin fabric or strong paper underlayment you could probably use mounting adhesive which would work even better with the canvas.
