    Default Oh dear...

This morning I managed to take a nice chunk out of my mountain mike 3" red latigo strop. Up until now it had suffered only a few minor nicks.
I only seem to damage the strop when doing someone other than 'normal' stropping! This morning I was worrying that I wasn't contacting the strop on the back stroke so thought I'd be smart and just do a few on their own...big mistake I actually removed the flap of leather that was still attached which I probably think was another mistake.

My question is how do gouges like these affect stropping. The damage is near the bottom of the strop and there is enough gouge free stropping space at the top to avoid of necessary or should I just strop over the top?

    Any thoughts appreciated.

You could sand it, or leave it... It will wear smooth with stropping. Stop drinking and and stropping. Bad combo.
