    Default CROx and Mneral oil?

Can I use mineral oil to mix with CROx for the backside of my SRD Latino strop?

Is neat foot oil better in some way? It will likely be thinner than the mineral oil, but does it make a difference?

What you need is a carrier. Once it's on it dries and leaves the CrO behind. Personally I'd just use the crayon or a means where I wouldn't need the mixing routine. Also personally I would never put a paste on a good strop even if it's the backside. I would get some inexpensive strop dedicated just for that. I have a bench strop with CrO on it. Of course you can do it assuming the back side isn't too rough. As far as the oils go I don't think it will make much difference as long as you use it sparingly. You don't want the oil soaking to the front and ruining your plain strop. You could also use water but then again you have the front part to worry about.

No difference in effect, but the neatsfoot would be better for the leather IMO.

    Thanks guys.

I found some neatsfoot oil at the hardware store.

I used it sparingly on the back, and this is my 'beginner' SRD strop - I am going to replace the leather in the next few months.
