    I make my own,do not see any downside,I still use both types.Upside? perhaps a little more consistant as the tension always remains the same,They all work.

    Yes, Eric is right about what I meant. And Oz is correct also - the cut and storage can cause cupping, and this is certainly a maker issue and I would always suggest contacting them if your strop arrives cupped.

    On some strops there is no handle on the end to hold, and sometimes with these the way you hold them can cause the cupping also. You need to distribute the load across the width - I think if you look at how that Liam chap (barber at some hotel?) holds his strop in that stropping video doing the rounds, you'll see how he holds it to avoid cupping by even load distribution.

    I like the upper connection on this strop(one of my favorites) cannot get much more rigid as it works like a true clamp,Am certain the 3 rivett designs are also quite adaquate.

    That's a nice looking strop top, what kind of strop is that? Looks like it says Pegasus hard to read on my ohobe tho.
