Thanked: 0Vegan Strops?
Hello all,
I have a quick question. A friend of mine wants to use a straight razor but, he's a vegan. As such he won't use a leather strop. Is it essential to use a leather strop or is it possible to only use canvass and keep a good edge on a razor? Also, are there any synthetic strops out there for this purpose that you know of?
Thanks in advance
Pete

I'm sure a Tony Miller Vegan strop will work: 3" Heirloom Artisan Synthetic Vegan Friendly Strop - The Well Shaved Gentleman The Heirloom Razor Strop Company
He makes strops in batches, none in stock right now.

Before i made my strop when i started i used newspaper and linen. I thought about using a heavier paper. Seemed to work fine, so i don't think your restricted to leather, but that being said it's time tested. Can't get better then leather.
