WHITE, Green, Or Black. The color means basically nothing. That is what they advertise by. There are many grades of CROX alone that may all be green but that means nothing.

I about forgot i have experimented with graphite on a strop that i don't care for. That is black.

These are standard polishing grades which come in a crayon like applicator. Emory is not graphite. The Crox work for me like the .3 micron crox on balsa and the white is so fine as to be more of cleaner on steel. On softer metals it will polish without leaving scratches.

The paste issues are moot if you order the bat without them. Then it is simply heavy leather on oak. I have used this with great success on knifes and now on razors.

I will stop after this post.

I did not say that Emory and Graphite are the same. I said they are both BLACK. Again color means nothing.

Check out this. 1/4 Lb. Green Polish Compound

I am not endorsing this product but, it is GREEN and you get a lifetime supply for the "normal" user. They have other colors also!

Don't buy a product based on the color. If they don't openly state what the product is... Stay away from it.

You could make your own for a lot less. If you choose to pay for someone else to make it for you be sure they are honest about what you are buying.

Color means nothing. In a short while it will be gray from the swarf of the steel anyway.

+1 on the SRD modular paddle strop. if you aren't dead set on 4 sides, but still want lots of options, it's the way to go IMHO
