    Default Strop resurfacing

I have a quick question guys, in curious if you can leave a leather strop natural after sanding the original surface down. I just finished resurfacing an old horse hide strop for my brother in law and it is as smooth as anything. Good smooth drag and feel, I did a few test strops.

    This is it

I merged the two for you

Honestly I have found that after a "Re-surface" on a strop I have had the best success in getting the draw I like from the Good Ole' Lather teatment using that twice seems to give the strop excatly what I am looking for

I tried the lather trick first and I just decided to hell with it I was gunna go all the way with the resurfacing, and honestly I am happy with the end result! I have never done this sort of work before either. I am seriously contemplating doing this to my red imp strop

That looks really good! I am still playing with my strop too. (I just did a post on it the other day) What did you use as a final finish on it?

Just a suggestion. If you have them, use your DMT plates for the sanding, they work great and leave no chance of possible imbedded sandpaper grit in the leather.

In the last pick there I used the rocky mountain dry skin butter. Unfortunately my red Imp strop did not turn out as well, but I think with some time it will be just fine. It's as smooth as anything just not quite shiny yet... Different leather

When you refinished, what was the finest grit you worked the leather with before oiling it up?

200-400- then 1500. A bit of a stretch but it's all I had. And it was just on used micromesh pad, the 1500
