Thanked: 2Possible treatments for a strop made of webbing
I have been stropping on the webbing as is prior to stropping on the leather and I have to wonder if the performance of the webbing would increase at all with some sort of treatment. I have read a number of posts on treating cloth / linen strops with dry soap or chalk and wonder if this would apply to webbed strops? Any ideas? Has anyone tried this?

Thanked: 522Chalk

Don
I get good service from chalk on the polyester strop opposite the SRD Eng. Bridle. Been using it that way for about 2 years with no complaints.
If you decide to use one of the sprays or pastes on your linen side, use it sparingly. You don't need much at all.

Thanked: 2I assume that if I go with chalk I am locked into using chalk for all subsequent treatments?
Jerry, do you strop on the chalk everyday before the leather or is that a weekly thing?
