My strop
Hello guys my question is that my strop leaves a small particles on leather on my edge and I was curious what was the cause and does it hurt my edge at all. And how do I make it stop it from leaving particles. Here are some pics of my strop. And how do I smooth out the back side it's alittle ruff

Thanked: 23Did you mean you're stropping with the back of the strop and it leaves small particles on your razor?

Looks to me like suede leather, if so than particles will get loose from time to time. Haven't heard of a suede strop before, so maybe I'm mistaken from this picture (second one)
Regarding the back side / lighter color. You can try to sand it down, but I wouldn't recomend it.

I could be wrong, but I believe most people just use the smooth side. Are you getting leather particles from the smooth side or do you use both sides?

Sand the back with 400 then 800

Only the smooth side should be used, unless you make the back smooth also.

Are you honing without tape? A freshly honed Spine can scrape a little off the surface of the strop. I did this with an IXL that I honed without tape. After I started taping, it stopped.

Thanked: 2I always get a bit of leather from my strop, I always just wipe it off before the linen side. It doesn't seem to have any negative effects on the razor or the strop.
