    Default Oil on strop?

Ok, I bought an SRD 3" premium 1 strop. I was thinking of oiling my Dovo carbon steel razor with mineral oil. If I don't completely wipe off the oil, will mineral oil hurt the strop? Should or could I oil the razor with neatsfoot oil? Will that protect the blade sufficiently? Thanks

I wouldn't worry a lot, if it is just some residue oil from your razor. That's not enough oil to ruin your strop.

Remove any excess oil that you can clearly see with a clean cloth, then rub the strop vigorously with the palm of your hand approx. 50x. Do so several times before stropping to work any remaining residue into the leather.

There is no need to use neatsfoot oil on your razor. Just make sure that you wipe the blade off thoroughly next time.

BTW...IMHO rubbing your strop with the palm of your hand will deliver a sufficient amount of your body's natural oils to your strop to break it in and keep it supple.
