Thread: Is my strop Junk? (possibly too dry?)

    if you think it wont offend your significant other, ask them where it was purchased from, we might be able to tell you more about it.

    Many thanks for all your responses.

    I've since found out the wife is not too bothered as she wants me to enjoy my new hobby, so if I need a new strop, I can get a new strop.
    Also the wife can not remember exactly which site she bought it off so hey ho. (plus I wouldn't want to possibly offend online retailer, by publishing bad things about thier stock)


    I've just got some neatsfoot so will rub some of that in tonight.
    If that does not do the trick, I like the idea of flattening it a little with some sandpaper, then burninshing the strop, I'm sure this should help?.

    One other thing, is my blade collection is growing significantly now (it's almost become an obsession) I have a few new blades, which I am releuctant to strop and ~4 blades in need of cosmetic restoration & 2 more with more serious work involved. Therfore I can use one of the restoration blades to improve my technique & at the same time help condition the strop as the edges are nowhere near shave ready, what do you think?
