Wow,
lot of information’s from Neil. Thank you very much. I will take all your suggestions and report later results of restoration. But I think I got quite a piece of history in my hands.

Thanked: 2027Old strops are a piece of history, old leather goods,I love them all as they where once one of the only materials one could use for hundreds of things, all since done with synthetics.I have shotshell bags and duck straps made by winchester 100 yrs ago,I use them still today.
I even bought an old western saddle once ( and I hate horses, never owned one)
But it was beautifull, smelled nice, felt nice.
Have maybe 30 strops, only use two.
This one is one of my faves, not really usable anymore, love the simple fittings,is old, how old I know not, wish it could talk.

Hard to tell from the photo where the cut is, but if it is the center, you still have two useful ends. I wouldn't cut it in half. The top and bottom look long enough for stropping . I foolishly bought a double off the Internet that had a large cut in the center-side of one strop. Use that one for paste and the other to strop on after using the paste side. Works out ok.

Update.
I have saved strop. Slowly I have polished with high grit sand paper parts, where strop was cut or damaged. Now all is in right order. Review: OMG what an amazing leather strop. I just went and strop all my razor on this strop and all razor do HHT without any problem. Edge is very smooth. Strop has two side. One is super delicate and other more like for pre polishing. More harsh. The only two problems. I don`t have hook to hold this strop. It is missing. Second leather in middle part went from 3 mm to 1.95:-( Just an astonishing strop. Never felt anything like that before.

Thanked: 3164Got your address and when I get back to my house it will be packed and sent on it's way. It's nothing special but the fixing holding the two plates together will go through that hole, so you don't have to make holes or stitch anything on.
Regards,
Neil

I was tempted to be a wise guy and say I hadn't heard of the Weiffenbach strop and ask if it had any relation to the Wiffenpoof song but that would be in bad taste so I didn't do it.
