    Default Thesuperiorshave horse butt strop

Couple of days ago I received my first strop from Thesuperiorshave. Even I don’t need one, I just wanted one. Actually I’ve got two from them, second is real horween shell cordovan leather.

My first impression was quite positive, decent craftsmanship and my favourite 3” size. I already own few strops from TM and few vintage strops so I have something to compare with. What surprised me is that stop was really thick though really soft, and not crooked. It was shipped flat, it took a month from US with to Russia with no damage to the strop itself at all.

It didn’t had this slippery glossy finish that typical horsehide strop have or will develop in some time. Actually, it had matt finish. I can compare this strop with typical Jnat suita stone. You can see here and there some area with different grain. Which is totally acceptable. I couldn't’t resist and applied tiny amount of neatsfoot oil. Once is dried – I’ve got my glossy finish, actually what people looking from horse strop.

Stropping feel – really close to TM strop, so is actually a compliment. Here some pictures of the strop.

Congratulations! Both of the strops you selected are very good strops. Enjoy.

I have the same Walkin' Horse strop which I purchased from Jarrod at The Superior Shave.

After a couple of light coats of neatsfoot oil, this strop is a joy to use!

I have the identical strop, also purchased from Jarrod at The Superior Shave. If you like a light draw it is a superb strop. If you find the horsehide too slick, neatsfoot oil will add to the draw. I haven't had to use neatsfoot on mine. These strops can be difficult to get, so it's a matter of checking the web site regularly to see when a shipment gets in. When they do come in they tend to go fast.
