Thanked: 14So many options??
I've been looking to upgrade from my 2" whippeddog strop to a 3" but I don't even know where to start! The Srd ones look fantastic but am just lost when looking at all the different options..I really likes the look of the black latigo..
I am looking for some opinions on the different options. Thank you!

You cannot go wrong with SRD strops. I have a few of their Premium models and the latest I had upgraded to the premium webbing for a small charge. They all work really well but have slightly different feel / draw. Good luck with your decision!

Thanked: 1195These days when it comes to strops the sky's the limit. It really depends on what you like as far as size and draw is concerned. The black latigo would be a fine choice, but if you aren't used to latigo it has a very heavy draw. If it catches your eye I say for for it.

In the end if it's a quality piece they all do the same thing. The different types give differing stropping experiences to you and the luxury feel.

If you like the looks of the black latigo, get that one. Get the most strop you can afford to.

Thanked: 14I can afford the more expensive ones...I think ill go with the latigo though. Heavy draw as in it a lot effort to pull taught?

Note as well that it is easy to increase the draw with oils, but it's a bugger going the other way... if that helps.

The latigo's will develop more and more draw with breaking in and use. The best advice I could give you is call Don at SRD
and he will be happy to discuss the different strop materials with you to help you get the strop that is right for you based on your current level of performance with a strop and your expectations. More than likely you will ultimately
have several strops if you stay with straight razor shaving.Last edited by lz6; 07-11-2012 at 06:31 PM.

Bob has given great advice. SRD has some great products and most of all, what I like about their strops, if I cut it badly (and that happens more often than admitted) you have the ability to replace the damage part w/o buying a whole new strop. Good luck!!!
