Daily Storage for Strops & Razors
How do you store your straight razors and strops?
For strops, I like the convenience idea of having a leather one fixed to the wall… However, I live in a 92-yr-old house, and my bathroom has a hole in the ceiling right above the sink exposing concrete board, plaster, bricks, and old wood. So the dust can be pretty course, which could in theory mess up the honing if I had a strop attached to the wall that got smallish rock particles on it. I'm thinking same thing for the razor, probably best to store it out of sight.

I store all my stuff outside the bathroom. There are six or seven shave ready blades in a bedroom cabinet, the rest downstairs in my man cave in rollups. I use an SRD Modular Paddle, so that is downstairs as well.

The bulk of my strops hang from the handle of my dresser.

Thanked: 2027Like most natural products, you need an equalibrium of hydration, think skin, leather etc.
I have a cieling fan in my bathroom. It extracts 99% of water vapor when I take a shower,I leave the door open when I am done showering and shaving, the bathroom is at the same humidty levels as the rest of the house at all times.
I have maybe 10 strops in said bathroom, none has ever cupped, deformed or sufferd any malidys that people elude to.I have about 20 razors in a drawer in the same bathroom, not a one has ever shown any sign of rust or corrosion.
Do not understand all the hocus pocus you all talk about.Maybe it is simply stuff to talk about that is not really real

Bhip,
My razors go in a 1.1L KlipLock box (like Tupperware/Rubbermaid), and my strops are covered with a plastic bag. (The plastic bags that Petri dishes come in are ideal !). They are stored in my bedroom.
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ

My stops hang in the sink area. The shower and toilet area has a door.
