    Default Scalpmaster Strop?

I was given this strop as a gift the name on it is scalpmaster and it says made in Pakistan, It's says its horsehide and its got a canvas second piece on the back. Basically I was just wondering if it was a decent starter strop, if theres anything I should watch out for on it.

    Default Scalpmaster Strop?

From everything I have heard I would not use one of them. With that said I have never held one of them in my hands. So you can take my advice with a grain of salt.

Yes, that's very true unfortunately Pakistan made shaving products seem to have a history of a severe lack of those qualities you mention.

I'm not sure I'd be happy using anything called "scalpmaster" in relation to shaving!!! Especially if, as I do, you shave your head!

Seriously though, if the leather is smooth and essentially free of bad creases and lumps etc, it is probably fine.

My first strop was a Scalpmaster from a beauty supply warehouse. It was cheap and came warped in the plastic bag/wrapper. Being a total noob, I tried to moisten and flatten the leather with a medium set iron. To my surprise, but not anyone else's, it didn't work. So, now it's in a landfill somewhere and I got a proper Illinois Strop that works like a charm.
