Multiple Strops

I was wondering if there is an advantage to using more than one strop? For instance they have different draws so would there be an advantage to starting with a heavy draw strop and moving to a lighter draw strop (Like how you start with a more coarse stone and move to a finishing stone). I have 2 SRD strops and use the Bridle and a Roo. I started using them with the bridle first and then the Roo and it is probably just my imagination but I feel it works better than using just one.

Not really. I used to do it, just to do it. As far as I can tell, there is no measurable difference going from leather to leather. Draw or resistance on strops is really personal preference.. FWIW, I would go from SRD's English Bridle to SRD's premium 1, or from a Latigo to a Horsehide, something like that.

I enjoyed using two strops. There's definitely no harm, if you like it, keep doing it.

I use more than one strop but only because I have 4 hanging on the wall in the honing area and one hanging on the bathroom doorknob. On a shave-ready razor I only ever strop on the bathroom strop. But, if I am honing razors I will strop them on the most convenient strop on the wall and then take them to the bathroom strop. I don't know why, just seems like something to do.

But like zib says, there is no advantage to using more than one strop IMO. Also IMO, there is no such thing as a "finishing" leather, though some leather treatments are smoother or softer or have more draw than others. Kangaroo has no grain to speak of and so feels quite smooth under the razor, but that does not mean it is imparting a smoother edge - it would need to be abrasive to be able to do that.

Strops are like potato chips. You simply can't have just one.

All quality strops do the same thing but they all feel differently and give you different feedback which may cause you to strop a bit different with each one. Of course they all look different too. I miss my old sealskin strop. It was black and as supple as could be.

Just don't try to strop with both of them at the same time.

I have 7 strops ranging in draw from heavy to light. I have tried all sorts of combinations, like 50 on a heavy draw (buffalo) followed by 50 on a light draw (horsehide or shell cordovan). I've never noticed a difference in the edge. So while I enjoy using my various strops, it doesn't have any effect on my razors.

I have at least ten quality strops,they all do the same thing,I check which way the wind is blowing in the morning before I shave,that determines which one I use

I use only a DOVO strop. One side is canvas, the other side is leather. As far as I can judge, this strop gives a good result. A second one would be a backup.
