They made strops from all sorts of critters so why not porpoise? I had a strop made from seal.

Keep it away from sharkskin for starters. It would be like mixing matter with anti-matter.

In all seriousness, you can clean the strop with your brush and some soap, like Williams. Then, afrer it dries, condition it with your palm. For most strops, that's all you need as your palm and hand produces enough oil to keep it supple. If, however, it's pretty dry, you can try rubbing some strop conditioner on your palm, then rub it into the strop. Use very little so you don't end up with an oily strop.

Next, be careful when you're in the ocean. Dolphins, or porpoises, watch out for their own.

    Saddle soap worked beautifully!

It's clean and smooth and slick now. I'll let it dry overnight and give it a try tomorrow.

The seal felt no different than any other strop and did the same job as all others. The big difference was the color. It was black.

The porpoise is really really slick to strop on. Like no draw at all slick. Taking a bit of getting used to.
