Thanked: 4Horse Hide strop
Hey all well it been about half a year since I started with a straight razor and loved it. One thing though is I seen a lot of strops around but not much Horsehide/Cordovan. What even worse is being in Canada it is even harder to locate a strop. Does anyone know where to purchase one or even just a location to obtain horsehide so I can make my own.

Thanked: 16SRD sells their own line of horsehide strops. The Superior Shave sells the Walking Horse line of horsehide strops. Both are made from Horween horsehide.

I'm in Calgary. I certainly can direct you to non horsehide sources in Canada but I haven't seen one that sells horsehide. Here is one in the U.S. however: The Imperial Shave Shaving Razor Quality. I have not bought from them though.
Nothing is as it ever was.

Thanked: 458There may be some strops that are made of horween shell, but I don't think there are any that are $95. It costs about $175 to get a single #2 shell from horween. That may make two shorter strops or one medium length. Figure any strop under the cost of a single shell is probably horse butt.

Do you want regular horsehide, or are you looking for cordovan?
They are different. Cordovan will be much harder to find.
