My first strop
Ok guys, this was my first strop nicked and beat up! Does anybody know where I can get a new piece of leather for it and what type. One more question there is some nicks in the leather that I have sanded down will this hurt the blade during stropping i have a modular strop that I'm waiting to use until I'm perfect on the hanging. The leather has one hole in it .

If it feels smooth to the touch and you don't feel any bumps when stropping, then I don't see why you should toss it. Rubbing it well with your hands or applying strop conditioner would probably help as well. Maybe you could keep it as a pasted strop once you have more than one.

where do you buy strop conditioner i always treated them like any other peice of leather and
always rub some oil on it. To prevent drying cracking and rotting. And when old ones need a good cleaning use a horse brush
and some saddle soap. Stuffs good for nice leather boots and strops.

My first strop
Idea that has worked on a few old strops that I've picked up. 1st use a worn out blunted razor that you just have sitting there not using but can't make yourselves toss it. Stop it on the blade a ~ 50-60 times. Sand it 1000-1200 sand paper. Oil or teat it with what ever. Strop the old razor ~ 100 times. Cover with plastic wrap and weight the wrapped side, 10-15 lb evenly. Set over night. I've found that it not only flattens and smooths but improves the color too.
If you're not going to use it you have nothing to lose. But it doesn't look that bad.
(Blunt razor so you don't cut or nick it by mistake)

Nice choice with the natural. It will break in perfectly for you with just using the palm of your hand a couple of times a day
to rub the surface. If you make a habit of palm rubbing the strop every morning when you get up your strop will thank you and your razor will thank you with comfortable shave. Enjoy.Bob
