Thanked: 13" wide "Big Daddy" #1 Bridle Strop made in the USA
Had to shoot out a post about this great new strop I just got. The name is in the title, it is made of great quality thick bridle grade leather and it was priced at a mere $37.99! I am pleased with this purchase from Starshaving.com. Also, I am in no way affiliated with this company, or have any other exp. with them other than this purchase.

Thanked: 16This was my first strop and it is indeed a great value. It generally has received good feedback in the shaving forms. You made a good choice.

Thanks for the steer top the web site. A 3" strop with felt for forty bucks seems like a good deal. I've heard mixed rersults about the site's SR offerings though (more bad than good).

Thanked: 270That's my training strop. and I cut the leather up mercilessly, probably for three reasons.
- It has more draw than, say, a Tony Miller steerhide. I bought an "irregular" TM steerhide on a special he had for $25-$30 some time ago and have a much easier time stropping with it.
- I'm a combination right handed and left handed. I write left handed and throw a ball right handed. When stropping, I'm having to learn to flip the blade right handed, which I would naturally do left handed and the timing between flipping and stroking is often off.
- I am determined to learn to do it right and have been practicing doing it the right way for about 9 months.
I contacted Star Shaving and he sold me a replacement leather part of the strop for $25 including shipping. If I can keep from messing this one up I'll be able to strop anything.

Thanked: 0I have the Big Daddy with the felt and i have nothing but good things to say about mine. I've often wondered how much better a $300 strop would be.

I love my Big Daddy. I also have a Russian leather strop and a Tony Miller 3" steerhide, and I will say that the Big Daddy gets a lot of use along with the other two. I used the felt strip to put .5 Diamond Spray on it, and the felt is a great medium for sprays/pastes...The Big Daddy is a great value for the money!!
