Thanked: 3225Started with a 3 inch bridle leather and hard felt strop and nicked it up a bit too at the start. Found some strop repair advice here, fixed the nicks and am still using it. I see no reason for me to change sizes now or even get another strop. Got lucky straight outta the chute with my choice. Obviously I would go that way again if starting over.

Thanked: 458Started with 3" strops, then didn't like that if they sort of form to a razor, they kind of like to have that razor's shape. Made a 3" strop out of horse butt not long after and eventually cut it to width to be a 2" strop. I am much more pleased with it, anyway.
What I gather with my edges is that the place that gets the most wear is right in the middle of the razor, so even if I didn't concentrate on working the whole edge on a 2" strop, I doubt it would matter.
You can see what I mean by that if you take a razor you've shaved with for two weeks (one that had been nicely honed) and do the HHT on the edge, it *should* do better at the ends than it does in the middle since the ends are basically getting stropped every day without taking much wear.
