Thanked: 0Paddle strop or hanging strop?
I am a beginner and I've recently purchased a Dovo razor. I am looking at which strop to buy but I'm unsure which types are the best. Looking at them I would say the paddle strop seems more convienient to use because you have to hook the hanging strop to a wall or something which isn't always practical. Can anyone suggest which one would be the best one to use, thanks.

Hanging is the classic way to do it. The paddle especially if it's a larger one like a bench strop can be more clumsy though easier to use. Many buy a small paddle for travel.
You can always find a door knob or door hinge to attach it to pretty easily.

Paddle strops are easier to learn to use and a good place to start. That's all I use although I have hanging strops as well.

I have both a hanging and paddle, for everyday use i go with the hanging. I'm not sure if is just because that is what i started with but i find it allot easier than the paddle. I do use my paddle whenever traveling and every now and then while at home, i also like that i can change out the pads on my paddle so i can use it with sprays while honing
