Default difference between polyester and canvas hanging strops

to all who might read this,

recently I bought a hanging strop with a leather strip and a polyester strip. I was wondering if there was a difference between a canvas strip and a polyester strip. For instance, do both do an equal good job in aligning the edge before the leather or if there is any difference between your end edge?
I find the polyester a lot louder when stropping than the canvas but it does have more feel.
Are there any other people with experience with this polyester strop? And how would you maintain it?
the canvas I did with the white dovo paste but if you put it on the polyester it lookes like a "missed fire" Or are they maintanence free?

    met vriendelijke groet,

    Jacob

I suspect rather than the material it's more a question of the weave and how coarse the fabric might be.

I just wandered out in the snow to the Straight Razor Designs shop in Medina, Ohio (this is not a paid commercial endorsement).
Don sold me a webbed fabric strop.
It is so good, it is hard to beleive.
I have a 6/8 Clauss that has declined to behave despite everything I tried. 40 strokes on the webbed fabric make it sharp enough to split air (slight exaggeration).
This $6.99 strop way out-performed my best Russian horse shell.

I use an SRD polyester on the back of my English Bridle. I lightly treat the poly with yellow bar which I believe may be cerium oxide, correct me if I'm wrong about that.

The poly fabric is well broken in and I think it works better than when it was new - I prefer poly over canvas.

The nylon webbed fabric that SRD sells is very woven/textured - more like a pack strap.
I suspect that seatbelt fabric is going to be too smooth, but try it and let us know.
