Using a polyester strop
I am still a newbie in this hobby/art form. I purchased a new strop that comes with a leather and a polyester component. My question is when do you recommend stropping with the polyester and often? Thanks in advance!

Thanked: 1184Well lets assume you have a good sharp razor and you just finished shaving with it. I would do 25 laps on the poly and 75 to 100 on the leather. A lap = once back and forth. I would also read up on how to strop in the library if I were you. Your stropping is the daily maintenance required on your razor. It can keep it nice and sharp or dull it in less than a minute.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 247Between shaves, I normally do about 15 on linen and 30 on leather. But so long as the linen or leather doesn't have any pastes or abrasives applied, then I don't think there's any real harm in doing more. JMO
