Thanked: 1263You'll do quite well no matter which strop you choose from SRD. I can only comment on The Natural & Red Latigo as those are the 2 I have...great strops, nice to look at and very well crafted. The hard felt is mainly if you're using pastes or sprays for touch ups etc. If this'll be you're main strop I'd suggest getting the webbing or linen material for everyday stropping and using one of your old strops for pastes or sprays down the road. Hope this helps

My thought would be that you start with the natural and use it to develop your skills to a satisfactory level of comfort stropping. After that I would go with a roo or a bridle leather or both. All of the SRD strops are great strops at very fair prices.

Thank you both. Here is another little question. What type of leather English Bridle or Latigo do you prefer?

Thanked: 1195Latigo is a fairly stiff leather with a very heavy draw. Bridle leather is slicker with a smooth draw.

Wich strop from straightrazordesigns.com
I would start with the cheapest 3" strop. That way you have a 3 inch base and you can upgrade by purchasing their replacements for the strop once you get the action down or ding a strop too much.
If you aren't worried about that I have the English bridle and love it. The extra length will be nice too.

I chose a heavier draw to begin with as it would seem you can feel your technique better,
I do have a bridal leather but have not started using it as of yet.Last edited by pfries; 03-03-2013 at 09:09 PM. Reason: spelling

I have the modular paddle strop....this gives me the opportunity in the future to get other leathers if I want. It comes with a scrub leather as well so you can get other tips and play around...Just my two cents.
It was not one of your choices but just throwing it out there.
