Default Applying chromium oxide to stop

I bought a small solid block of Chromium Oxide for the rough backside of my RupRazor Philly strop. What is the best way to apply it? Should I heat it up and apply directly to strop, or dissolve it in something beforehand? Thanks!

I normally just rub it on the webbing until I start to see the green color. You don't want to cake it on. Same would apply for the back of the leather.

    Have fun.

I used the same method that Lynn presented and it indeed works great!

Does it make much difference whether you apply to canvas or to leather, or is it just personal preference / whatever's available to you?

I prefer Balsa for chromium oxide, cheap and very efficient

Makes no difference. I use both.
