Thanked: 12Weight lifting belt - another help thread
Good morning SRP-
I have read the threads here about using old weight lifting belts as strops. I remembered that I had my first lifting belt in the garage in a box (been using an EliteFTS 13mm 2prong belt *awesome*) and cut it into a 3" setup like in this thread:
Old weight lifting belt
I have sent the original poster a message but have not heard from them. So my question is:
How do I prep the smooth side?
From the replies to that post, I see the recommendations of working in some saddle soap or neat's foot oil into the leather. I plan on using saddle soap or whatever leather conditioner I have in the garage. I am trying to "recycle" what I can for this new adventure of mine.
Thanks.

Depends on the condition. If it is supple and smooth I would do no more than palm rubbing. Neatsfoot is fine but a very little goes a heck of a long way and be careful not to overdo it. Also be aware that neatsfoot generally will increase the draw, so if you want more draw go for it. If it is fine as it is you might be better off leaving well enough alone.
