Thanks for your input...will follow-up with the abrasives..although i do have a question...will paste work well with wool/felt, or should i look into the sprays?

I haven't used any sprays. I think that they are supposed to be good for fast even application of the abrasive. Felt should be good for any of the crayons, pastes, homemade pastes, or sprays. This search, pasting [wool|felt] should help with your research.

If you are planing on getting a finishing stone later, skip the expensive pastes/sprays to save for a good stone. Just start with some low cost crox, as it will still help once you have a finisher.
